Ongoing Programs for Adults

Changing careers? Interested in travel or a specific hobby? Wanting to grow your business or trace your genealogy? Let the Lincoln Township Public Library serve as your resource center. Our enormous offerings can assist with many of your career, social, continuing education, and personal interest needs. Check our event calendar often; we offer stimulating events throughout the year that will educate, entertain, and inspire you. We have in-house and/or online resources that you will find valuable, no matter where you are on life’s journey. Further, you will find yourself growing in many dimensions when you take advantage of our adult-oriented programs that will connect you with engaging people and thought-provoking materials.

Computer Classes

computer-classes
Computer Classes at the Library —The world may be at your fingertips, but only if you know how to use the massive power of the computer. With our robust schedule of computer training classes, you will be proficient in no time at all. Our topics will introduce you to the Internet, train you in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), teach you to buy and sell on eBay, prepare you for college admission tests, help you develop a website or edit a photo, or provide training on various current topics as the needs of our patrons change. Anyone 13 years or older can take the classes. Our classes are so popular that they frequently fill up, but don’t worry. We maintain waiting lists and regularly schedule more sessions of classes depending on demand. We also recognize that the skills of our students vary, so we encourage you to start classes at whatever level your self-evaluation deems appropriate. If you are unsure, we recommend taking the classes in order. If you are interested in an offsite class for your group, please contact us to discuss your needs. Check our event calendar for available classes.

Reading Programs

Undeniably, Michigan winters can be both beautiful and challenging. Our Adult Winter Reading Program will both stimulate you throughout some of those icy, dreary days and also motivate you to become familiar with all the library has to offer. You will have the chance to read five items from different collections highlighted each year, and you will win a prize for finishing the series.

Our Adult Summer Reading Program is as relaxed as summer can be along our sparkling Lake Michigan shoreline. A library-wide program for all ages, summer reading focuses on a single theme. Adult participants will read ten books of their choice. Everyone finishing the program wins a prize.

Adult Book Clubs

Book clubs represent an especially rich way to interact with other adults who enjoy reading. You will be able to share your insights, express your opinion, and get better acquainted with other participants. We offer several options for adults.

Morning Book Club. Meeting on the second Tuesday of every month at 10:30 a.m., we read popular books on a variety of topics. Copies of the books will be available one month in advance.

Doorstep Program

If mobility problems make it hard for you to come to the library, let us come to you! Call us and we’ll get a registration form to you. On it you can let us know what titles, authors, or types of books you’d like to read. We’ll prepare a bag of books just for you and have a staff member deliver it. When you’re done with them, give us a  call and we’ll trade you for another bagful.
