If you have ever wanted to visit another time and place in history, you may be interested in reading Michelle Moran’s book, Nefertiti. This book is the fictional account of Queen Nefertiti and her sister, Mutnodjmet. One sister is beautiful, driven and destined to marry an impetuous, young pharaoh who is in need of a stabilizing force. The other sister is quiet, contemplative and content to stay out of the limelight. The sisters are fiercely loyal to each other, but they get caught up in political events that could change their relationship as well as the course of history forever.
I loved reading this book because I felt as if I was actually there witnessing the religious conflicts, political unrest and plagues of ancient Egypt. The author has meticulously researched the time period as well as what is known about the life of Nefertiti. The result is an extremely enjoyable book that rings true.
Nefertiti by Carol Moran is available on Libby. Check out the LTPL website for more information.
