If you’re looking to join a new book club this year, LTPL has an exciting opportunity! On February 21, we will hold the first meeting of our new Generation Next Book Club.
Brian Johnston, Head of Public Services, will be the group leader. Brian selected books that should lead to some thought-provoking discussion among group members.
At the first meeting, the group will discuss X: A Novel by Ilyasah Shabazz and Kekla Magoon. This book is the selection for the Great Michigan Read program for 2017-18. From their website: “The book explores the Michigan roots of Malcolm X, including the early life experiences, both good and bad, that molded him into one of the most prominent leaders of the twentieth century.”
After that, the group will read The Death of Expertise by Tom Nichols for the March meeting, and in April the group will discuss Quiet by Susan Cain. Brian will be asking for input from the group on future selections.
The meetings will take place at the Red Brick Cafe, 8952 1st St. in Baroda. All patrons 18 and up are invited to participate. Be sure to stop into the library ahead of time to sign out a copy of the book, then come join us on February 21!
